Nothing has shaped my college experience more than joining a women’s rugby team. Friendship, intimacy, and rivalry thrive and blur together in the sport’s queer culture. The female body in all its variety is pushed to beautiful but often violent limits. Social norms are turned on their heads at parties as old traditions blend with new ideologies. For the past two years, I’ve been shooting images of my teammates at games, social events, and in living spaces. These images are an inside look at women’s college rugby in the United States and lifestyles that accompany it.
